Justin Bieber's Golden Locks Fetch Over $40,000
Mar 02, 2011
"The proceeds earned from Bieber's trademark fringe will go to The Gentle Barn, a nonprofit organization that helps abused farm animals."
The idea for the auction began when The Biebs paid a surprise visit to Ellen DeGeneres during the taping of her show in February. The 53-year-old talk show host had recently tweeted that she wanted a lock of Bieber's hair for her birthday. Never one to disappoint a belieber, Justin delivered. When giving DeGeneres a lock of his newly-cut hair as a belated birthday gift, the 16-year-old pop star said: "We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want to." The proceeds earned from Bieber's trademark fringe will go to The Gentle Barn, a nonprofit organization that helps abused farm animals, as well as at-risk, inner-city and special needs kids. This isn't the first Ellen auction won by GoldenPalace.com; in 2004, the casino was top bidder for a one-of-kind Cabbage Patch Kid made in DeGeneres' likeness. In that auction, the proceeds from GoldenPalace.com's winning bid went to the American Red Cross and Noah's Wish to help hurricane victims on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. Bieber's clippings are beliebed to have fetched the highest amount ever for celebrity hair, surpassing the $15,000 that was paid for a clump of Elvis Presley's hair in 2009, changing rock 'n' roll history. And GoldenPalace.com doesn't plan to let it stop there-as Bieber the boy embarks on the UK leg of his current concert tour, plans are being set in place for his hair to take a tour of its own with all proceeds going to charity. GoldenPalace.com has made headlines across the globe by winning similar auctions in the past with much of the proceeds going to benefit various charities. Some of their most noteworthy purchases include the Beckham Ball, Pope Benedict XVI's used VW Golf, and TV star William Shatner's kidney stone. Although GoldenPalace.com no longer accepts players from the United States, the casino still caters to most countries around the world. GoldenPalace.com has used their items and marketing reach to raise awareness and over $1,000,000 for various charities worldwide.
