Hardin Orthodontics Expands Practice to Include New Nonprofit Organization

Oct 15, 2011

GRESHAM, OREGON -- Women and children in need are finally finding a reason to smile, thanks to the caring professionals at Hardin Orthodontics.

In January, the Oregon orthodontic practice launched their new nonprofit, supporting Susan G. Komen For the Cure, the Northwest Autism Foundation and My Father's House, a local homeless shelter for families.

"We raise money to support charities that involve women, children and their families," Dr. Tod Hardin, owner and doctor at Hardin Orthodontics, said. "Most of our patients are women or children, so it just feels right to give back to them."

Fittingly enough, Hardin decided to name the organization Reason2Grin."We like to think that it's giving mothers and their children in need a reason to grin," he said.

Hardin and his team of professionals have been helping patients achieve beautiful smiles in the Sandy and Gresham areas for fifteen years. Hardin's compassionate approach to orthodontic treatment developed into a devotion for the communities he practices in and the patients he helps.

Hardin and his staff participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure series earlier this year, in attempt to raise funds and awareness for women battling against breast cancer.
Dr. Hardin's team also sponsors a room at My Father's House. When a new homeless family assumes occupancy, all of the bedding, kitchen supplies and household items are donated to the family with funding from Hardin Orthodontics. "This gives these families a leg up when they are ready to try and make a go of it on their own again," Hardin said.

What's different about Reason2Grin, he says, is that it helps those that need assistance both inside and outside the field of orthodontic medicine.
"We have set up a sponsorship program that gives dental hygienists, administrative staff and others the opportunity to have access to quality treatment at a low cost," Hardin said. "We want to say thank you to them and their dedication to our field while, at the same time, raise money for a worthy cause."

Hardin said that the monthly sponsorship program is available to others in the orthodontic profession by invitation. He is thrilled to be able to expand his influence by offering charitable services within his practice that also benefit the wider community.

"We needed a source of dependable income for Reason2Grin and doing orthodontic work is what I'm best at," Hardin said. ""So I thought it best to allocate some funds from patients that receive my discounted treatment to whatever circles of influence we are most passionate about."
