Chen Lo and The Lo Frequency to Perform at NCIV's 50th Anniversary Gala

Feb 14, 2011

ATLANTA, GA -- Chen Lo and The Lo Frequency (formerly The Liberation Family), a 2010 alumni of The Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad project administered by Jazz at Lincoln Center for the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, will be the featured entertainers at the National Council for International Visitors' (NCIV) 50th Anniversary Gala After Party on February 16, 2011 in the Garden Terrace at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC.

After returning from an incredible tour of the Middle East and North Africa coordinated by the local American Embassies in Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, the 6-member Brooklyn-based Hip Hop band, composed of lead vocalist Chen Lo, bassist Baassik, lead guitarist Hakhi Alakhun, singer Shannon Grier, turntablist DJ Scandales, and drummer Ken White, will help NCIV members from across the United States and citizen diplomats from around the globe celebrate half a century of leadership in citizen diplomacy - the concept that individual citizens have the right, and even the responsibility, to help shape U.S. foreign relations "one handshake at a time."

Sherry L. Mueller, president of NCIV, said, "As the private sector partner with the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program, NCIV sought to engage musicians that use music as a tool to promote cultural and citizen diplomacy. With a distinctive sound and a myriad of musical influences, Chen Lo and The Lo Frequency fit the bill. We look forward to listening to this emerging international musical phenomenon."

Artist, humanitarian, teacher, writer, speaker, and entrepreneur with a passion for purposeful music and art, Chen Lo and his band will no doubt use their individual gifts, skills and talents to lead NCIV into its next half century of promoting excellence in citizen diplomacy.

About Chen Lo and The Lo Frequency
